2004 Aus, Indo & Tazi Reflections

Ahoy guys and lass’s….

Just back from the other side of the globe and definitely in a travel appreciative frame of mind…

I only ever send a group mail about once a year, so I’m not goanna apologise for being impersonal, but I’ll merely attempt at making it inspirational and worthwhile.

A month ago, I left from Newquay and the money making trap we all get caught up in somewhere down the line…

2 days later I was getting towed into some solid waves on some outer reefs off East Cost of Australia…A week later I was lost in a jungle in the middle of Tasmania…

Days later I was swimming alone with a lemon shark & some turtles, off some wreck, a mile out off Byron bay…

A week later I was cruising some remote offshore Island in a 4×4, with an old friend, laughing & exploring where there are few people, few roads…only sand tracks…& koala bears.

Last week I was in the most awesome jungle camp, somewhere off Java, surfing one of the best left handers in the world, solo mission, big and outa control, in Indonesia.

Last night I was lying on a deck in the same jungle, on the edge of the most amazing living reef, looking up at a curtain of stars drawn across the night sky, glistening, sparkly and bright, as the tropical gecko’s, beetles, monkeys and all foreign creatures to me, sang there nightly melody…calming my mind, soothing my body and enlightening my soul.

The point of this mail is really, not to tell you all what I have done over the last month, or where I have been, but…more importantly, just to remind us all, myself included, just how easy it is to be sucked into the spiral trap of the corporate working world, selling our souls for the top dollar, which society hypnotises us into believing is the way we have to live, to have it all, keeping up with the Jones’s and fit in with the norm…Work for the pay check, hoping for that 5% bonus at our salary review…

We all need to get away at least once a year…. anywhere, it doesn’t have to be anywhere extravagant…just away, somewhere new…. There really is too much to see and not enough time.

Don’t put it off, next year, the year after…. Procrastination is the evil, of our all precious time.

Blink and it’s gone. There aint no round two…this ain’t no dress rehearsal, this is it.

This is life, we only get one chance, so lets not waste the time we have…live it, really live it, each and every day….

Just cause its raining and cold, don’t let it get you down, carry your own weather system within you and remember that above the clouds it’s sunny every day!

See the opportunity in the obstacle…and remember that there is always something good that comes from anything bad; you just have to look a bit harder to see it.

Everything happens for a reason, so don’t fight it, there is always something to learn from every situation and any mistake made…. it’s only a mistake, if you make it twice!

There is no such thing as luck, we generate our own, through the attitude we keep and the opportunities we explore to the full.

Throw all your focus and energy at anything you wish to achieve and if you truly believe…. anything is truly possible. You just have to believe strongly enough!

Live, laugh, dare to be a little crazy, take more risks, stop to smell more daisies, a butterfly on a dewdrop…. take more trips, escape, get away from it all, trust in your heart, believe in yourself and dare to dream…

They say Heaven is the place where dreams come true, then I say” We live in heaven, each and every day…just most people never quite realize it, or only realize it when it’s too late…

I know, I’m ticking off my dream list on a monthly basis…. and it really is true that happiness is found, thru achieving your goals and living your dreams….

Only when you truly escape from the hussle and bustle of the cities, our mundane daily routine and the modern world, do we truly see the magic that is just waiting out there for all of us to explore and appreciate. Our energy and enthusiasm for life will return, our youthful excitement and joy returns and the spark, that twinkle of life, love, laughter and an appreciation for all around us returns… in our souls and in our eyes, as we realize how easily it has slipt from us as time goes by…

The true gifts of nature, and time in each and every day we are given. All the small things, the little magical gifts that we’re all given that are so often taken for granted…. the smell of the jungle, or a special flower, another magical sunset or early morning sunrise & the small sounds of little creatures that fill the night sky….

What will it really take to make us wake up and appreciate all that we have, that we are, all were given, our friends, family and loved one’s. Will it take loosing another person we know, a family member or loved one…

Lets get away a little more, appreciate people and the little things just a little bit more and stop getting so absorbed in our own little worlds, we call life….

Get out there and don’t just live it, but Truly Live it, stop putting off all our passions, our dreams for the sake of the greed for more material wealth.

Don’t blink, cause before you know it, it’ll all be gone….

A day without love, laughter and nature, is a day without life!

Don’t just dream your dreams….live em’!

To all my friends, I have come to know, love and trust…

I appreciate you all, a whole lot more than I think you know…

Thanks for all your help, friendship, love & laughs, thru all the good times, & bad.

There’ll most definitely be whole lot more good times to come…

I have all the faith and confidence in the world in all of you…

Aloha & Mahalo…
